Griggs Garners Figure 8 and Hornet Hustle Victory
Kevin Montgomery, TUCSON, Ariz. (July 4th, 2010) – Karl Griggs made his own fireworks by not only winning the $500 Front Wheel Drive Hornet Hustle but he also picked up an extra $1000 by snaring his first Figure 8 Fury victory at USA Raceway.
Griggs held off a spectacular move by Hornet point leader Stephen Lee to hold on and take the 50-Lap main event. Lee would have to settle for the runner up spot with Queen Creek racer Tyler Mecl rounding out the top three.
Griggs then turned his sights to the USA Raceway’s Figure 8 track where he battled fiercely with Bob Davis. Davis would surrender the point allowing Griggs to win the $1000 making his weekend tally $1500. Serin Mitchell, Josh Allred and Paul Rios completed the top five.
Jason Davis made his dirt debut and won the Front Wheel Drive Hornet Hustle as he held off point’s leader Jim Hock for the $500 payday. Davis and Hock crossed the stripe just ahead of Bud Demay who completed the top three in the 50-Lap feature.
New Mexico Shoe Mercedes Harris reeled in her first X-Mod feature as she beat point leader Ted Robinson in the 20-Lap X-Mod main event. Harris drove from her fifth starting spot to take the point and lead Robinson and third place finisher Derek Lucas to the line.
Matt Martinez took top honors in the SCRA main event with Joey Mccullough and Jody Henderson completing the top three.

USA Raceway returns to action this Saturday night with the thunder of the Barnett Harley Davidson UMP Modifieds joined by the Unifirst Super Stocks, Factory Stocks and Hornets. General admission tickets will go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
