UMP West Modifieds and a Classic Car Show Headline USA Raceway Father’s Day Tribute
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (June 14th, 2010) – Father’s Day, a holiday celebrated since the early 20th century was first celebrated as a compliment to Mother’s Day. It was thought that since Mother’s were going to be honored, Father’s should also have their day in the spot light. While we are in no position to disagree, we will go with the 100 year tradition and use the holiday as a reason to celebrate, as if we needed one! What better way to honor our Father’s than with action packed racing and a huge classic car show?
After a short two week break from action, USA Raceway resumes with cars and more cars! The night’s festivities are slated to kick off when the gates open at 4pm for a Father’s Day classic car show. Several Tucson classic car clubs will converge onto the USA Raceway main concourse for viewing pleasure while the stars and cars of the UMP West Modifieds, joined by the Factory Stocks, Unifirst Super Stocks, Hornets and Dwarf Cars get ready for racing action pit side.
RC Whitwell will be tuned up and ready for battle with the “Big Un” Nick O’Neil lurking about ready for win number three. Whitwell holds a narrow 10 point lead over O’Neil as the two racers have battled fiercely to hold onto the top spots.
The “Outlaw” Jimmy Ray is expected to make the trip from Las Cruces as he holds the third place point’s position and will likely be traveling with the hot shoe Stormy Scott. Scott, who knocked off back to back wins at El Paso Speedway Park and Las Cruces’ Southern New Mexico Speedway last weekend, will return in search of his second victory at USA Raceway.
The Factory Stocks return after a month long break and join the Unifirst Super Stocks, Dwarf Cars and mighty Hornets making for an action packed Saturday Night. The Father’s Day celebration begins when general admission tickets go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite. Enjoy the races in luxury for only $25!
There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the Father’s Day racers at an open practice slated for June 18th. The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview.
