USA Raceway to Honor Mothers With A Race For The Cure
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (April 27th, 2010) – The month of May in the racing world may be synonymous with the Indianapolis 500 but May also represents a nearly 100 year old American tradition. The “Second Sunday of May” or more commonly Mother’s Day, has been the day that families honor their Mother since it became a National Holiday in 1914.
The staff of USA Raceway, in conjunction with “Team Lump Busters” has sought to honor our Mother’s with a Race for the Cure benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader of the breast cancer movement. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a non profit organization that is working to save lives and energize science to find a cure for a disease that, in 2009, had nearly 200,000 new cases diagnosed in American women.
On May 8th, USA Raceway will have its own version of a Race for the Cure with $5 for every ticket purchased being donated to Susan G. Komen via “Team Lump Busters” and in honor of all of our Mother’s.
The Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds will be back in action with Nick O’Neil and RC Whitwell tied for an early season points battle. O’Neil, who broke into victory lane on his birthday weekend, will look to celebrate another top finish with his Mom on Mother’s Day.
RC Whitwell remains winless for 2010 with a pair of runner up finishes as he continues to look for the checkered flag and victory lane. Whitwell and, season opener winner, Jimmy Ray will join a large cast of competitors from near and far all after the $1000 winner’s share of the Mother’s Day purse.
Joining the Modifieds for the Mother’s Day Race for the Cure on May 8th will be the Unifirst Super Stocks, Factory Stocks, Hornets and Southwest Modlites. General admission tickets will go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
