UMP Modified Season Opener This Saturday!
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (March 26th, 2010) – The much anticipated season opener for the Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds will fire off this Saturday night at USA Raceway!
As the excitement continues to build for the first race of 2010, racers from all regions will be putting the final touches on their cars, Element 7 Graphics will be placing the final vinyl graphics and crew members will be mounting tires. Some cars will be brand new, some will be old and faithful and some will be last years models but one thing for sure, they will all be ready for battle.
Tucson racers such as RC Whitwell, Paul Banghart and Chad Ayers will make the short trip from around town to the Los Reale’s speed facility. Undoubtedly, Whitwell with one of the shortest drives of all the competitors will roll through the pit gates at the last minute scurrying to be on time to the drivers meeting where promoter Benji Lyons will welcome everyone and give a brief on driver and crew instructions for the night.
Phoenix area drivers will make the short trip along Interstate 10 with the final destination of Tucson’s dirt track. Canyon Speedway Champion Bo Hatfield, son of the legendary Kenny Hatfield, will be on hand with fellow Hatfield wheeler Terry Belcher Jr.
The New Mexico Bandits will be out in full force as Stormy Scott leads the caravan from the Las Cruces area with SNMS Champion Fito Gallardo close in tow as they join fellow New Mexico racer Jimmy Ray for the Interstate 10 trip from the east.
The Bandits will likely encounter a few Texans along the way! They most likely will not be riding new Harley Davidson Motorcycles from the legendary Barnett Harley Davidson of El Paso Texas, but they will be in the company of the “head Barnett” likely to be cruising in Cadillac style with co-pilot Christy Georges.
This Saturday night will mark the first race of 2010 for both regions of the UMP West Modifieds and with almost no conflicting races between Southern New Mexico Speedway and USA Raceway it is expected to see a full invasion of New Mexico’s best.
Joining the Modifieds on the March 27th card will be a full field of Super Stocks, Factory Stocks and Hornets. Sherman Barnett returns to Super Stock action looking to repeat and Bo Partain returns to the very competitive Factory stock field ready for battle. General admission tickets will go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
Season and Suite Access Passes will allow race fans to get all the action at an unheard of low cost.
